A reliable electricity supply is available almost nowhere in the region. However, we absolutely need water to prepare the meals for the children, as drinking water, the toilet, and last but not least for the upcoming construction measures in our school. The only reliable way of assuring sufficient water supply is by using the ground water. Currently, this is pumped to the surface with the help of a manual, foot-operated pump. Besides that, the ground water here is of good quality.
For pumping the water, we plan to purchase a solar-driven facility. The alternative would be a generator pump, which requires a lower initial investment but causes higher running costs. The solar pump would be amortized after 3 years. The costs for the solar pump amount to 1.7 Lakh Rupees (approx. 2,900 Euros). See project proposal

The water delivered this way will also be made available to the surrounding neighbours against a small usage fee. This represents another source of funds for the Gaiatreeschool.
We are looking for support through sponsors and donors.
