Review and Feedback

"Gaiatreeschool yoga retreat was the perfect way to end my 2014. Spending the last 5 days of the year in silence, going within and just being with myself in the waking hours and through the meditations while nurturing the body through yoga, was the best gift I could give myself. The location of the retreat was also absolutely beautiful. It reminded me to be thankful for being alive on this beautiful Earth."

The unique location of our centre in the middle of the northern Thai jungle brings you back to nature - back to the roots. The close proximity to the hot springs of Doi Saket reflects the energetic force at this location. During the intense sadhana practice you develop a subtler state of sensitises to feel this earth energy and take within. Breathing the fresh and clean forest air, pranayama, as an integral part of yoga, here has a deep and practical significance. Practicing the asanas under these conditions helps to a better understanding of yoga and meditation.
The intense 200 hours training in all aspects of yoga (philosophy, asanas, kriyas, pranayama, meditation, mudra, bandha, anatomy and physiology) is the foundation for a practical-methodical teacher training. Our brand new dual training concept includes the teaching from first moment onward.

Curriculum

Asanas: There are 84 asanas in the Hatha tradition. These poses are used to steady the body and mind, making the practitioner more energetic, free from disease, and ready for the practice of meditation. These are often the most familiar part of yoga tradition in the western world.
Pranayamas: These practices utilize breathing to control and influence the flow of vital life force (prana) in the body. Pranayamas are practiced after asana practice. You will learn and practice the basic pranayamas and Kriyas.
• Meditation/ Vipassana: Dhyana, or meditation, is the practice of calming the mind and body through controlling the thoughts, calming the senses, and deep concentration. You will get an overview about the various techniques in Yoga. Basically we practise Vipassana.
Mudras: Mudras are advanced yogic techniques that alter mood, attitude, and perception, thereby deepening awareness and concentration. They have a subtle but powerful effect on energy flow in the body and thus are a good preparation for deeper spiritual practices. You will learn to practise five Mudras during the training.
Bandhas: Bandhas are bodily locks that help to redirect the flow of energy in the body. They involve locking the chin, abdomen, and perennial region. As they are an advanced practice, they are best practiced individually under able instruction before being incorporated into other yogic practices. We practising every morning during the Kundalini session.
Yoga philosophy: For successful yoga practice, there must be an understanding of the ancient yoga philosophies as described in traditional texts based on Bhhagavadgita and Hatha Yoga Pradipika.
Anatomy and physiology of Hatha yoga: It’s important for yoga teachers to understand the movements and range of motion of the human body, as well as the inner workings of the digestive, respiratory, circulatory, and nervous systems. This knowledge will help teachers to address the safety concerns of students and give proper adjustments, while helping students understand the full benefits and limitations of their practice.
Teaching Methodologies- learning to Instruct: From beginning of the course you will teach in the group (dual system). You will learn how to prepare good yoga class, to bring the different parts and sequences in a systematically and logically way together. You will learn to use an effective and clear language, to observe your students and adjust them in the right way.

Rules for the co-existence during the course

A student will have to stay for the entire period of the course. The other rules should also be carefully read and considered. Only those who feel that they can honestly and scrupulously follow the discipline should apply for admission. Those not prepared to make a determined effort will waste their time and, moreover, will disturb others who wish to work seriously. A prospective student should also understand that it would be both disadvantageous and inadvisable to leave without finishing the course upon finding the discipline too difficult. Likewise, it would be most unfortunate if, in spite of repeated reminders, a student does not follow the rules and has to be asked to leave.
